Progressive Dinner Fundraiser

As a fund-raising exercise, the Club sometimes hosts Progressive Dinners, featuring many international dishes, hosted at a different home for each course. Funds raised from past dinners have gone to various projects supported by the Club, including the Childrens Hope in Action - CHIA - project in Vietnam, run by Robyn Morley. (The Club continues to support this project as one of its International Programs.)

People To People Homestay Hosting

Each year the Club hosts from one to three separate groups of thirty to forty young Americans (11-14 and 15-18yo) who have embarked on the People To People Student Ambassador Program.  The students tour various parts of Australia, and included in their journey is a two- night homestay and activities with local residents, organised by the Club.  Host families are drawn from the Club’s own members, but particularly from many civic-minded friends of Rotary, to whom the deep gratitude of the Club is extended.

This photo shows the July 2010 students at the Bellingen High School bus area, as they were about to leave after their visit. Perhaps the glum expressions reflect that they realise that they are leaving the beautiful Bellinger Valley and Urunga seaboard, after such an enjoyable visit.

 Roundabout Beautification

With the help of Bellingen Shire Council and local plant nurseries, members of the Rotary Club of Bellingen landscaped and initially maintained the two roundabouts on Waterfall Way in Raleigh. This is where traffic exits from or enters the Pacific Highway, and is the eastern entrance to the Bellinger Valley. [These roundabouts are now maintained by the Bellingen Shire Council under an arrangement with the RTA.]
